Healthcare Services

Our Director has over 20 years experience working as a

registered nurse. She has worked in a number of senior

roles including ten years as Matron in a private hospital.

Assistance can be given on a  regular basis, or temporarily,

for new mums or for people due for discharge from hospital.

These are a few examples of the ways in which we can help.

Companionship and home visits to sick relatives

With people’s hectic schedules and work commitments, it is not always easy to pop round to see how your loved one is getting along. Do they have all they need – have they seen a friendly face today? Need someone to make a cup of tea and have a chat. Save yourself some time (and worry) by letting First Assistant call in too. We can check that all is well and give you an update call if you wish.

Escorting you or a relative on hospital visits or appointments

Going to a hospital appointment can be stressful event in itself; the last thing you want is the added burden of trying to get yourself there and then finding somewhere to park when you do. We can ease the stress in several ways. We can take you along to the hospital and even accompany you during your appointment. Perhaps you have been asked by a relative to escort them to hospital but you simply don’t have the time.. By using the services of First Assistant, you can be assured that your relative will be accompanied by someone knowledgeable in health care and someone who will be supportive during the visit. It will be someone you can trust.

Collection of prescriptions

We can step in if you are unable to do this.

Supporting you or a relative at doctor’s appointments

If you don’t want to go the appointment alone, we can act as your professional friend, providing support for you at all times. We can advise you on the sorts of questions you should ask your doctor and write down the answers that you are given. As you probably know, it’s almost impossible to remember everything that was said at the time.

Sourcing accurate and reliable patient information

There is a lot of health information out there these days but is it all reliable? We can help you to locate information that is accurate and up to date. We can also put you in touch with local support groups where they exist.

Help at home after arrival of new baby

Coming home with a new baby can be exciting but also exhausting. Would you like some extra help for the first week or two? Give us a call – we would be happy to lend a hand. You can also purchase our special package for such an occasion – a great present for the new Mum and Dad.

Making doctor’s appointments

Fed up trying to get through on the phone. Tell us your availability and we will do the rest.

Help you during illness/post discharge from hospital

We can pick up any medicines and groceries you may need, collect magazines and newspapers, change your bed linen and do some light housekeeping. This service can be pre booked if you know when you are going to be discharged from hospital. You can also call us at short notice if you suddenly become unwell and there is no one around to help out.

Purchasing and delivering items to people in hospital

Having a loved one in hospital can be almost more exhausting for the relative that is doing the visiting! Are you stuck at work and unable to take that squash, nightclothes, magazine in to your loved one? Give us a call and we will be happy to buy what you need and take it along to the hospital.
